Job Description

Position Summary:
Supervise and coordinate load activities and accompany aircraft as a member of the crew to monitor and handle cargo in flight, and assist and
brief personnel on safety and/or emergency procedures.    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with supervision and coordination of ground crew activities
in the loading, unloading, securing, and staging of aircraft cargo,
personnel, and/or baggage.

May determine the quantity and orientation of cargo and compute
aircraft Center of Gravity (CG).

Ensure flights are conducted in the safest manner possible, determining
all load/mission risk parameters.

Work at varying cabin altitudes and conditions performing crew member duties.

Perform preloading inspections, help Director of Cargo Operations
supervise loading of cargo, and secure/restrain all types of material
and direct offload.

Prepare written documents such as daily reports, test reports, and
other company reports in a clear and concise manner.
      
Manage all aspects of air cargo screening to include acceptance
inspections, screening inspections, and pre/post loading inspections.

Manage Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) procedures for air cargo.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending
educational workshops, reviewing professional publications,
establishing professional networks, and/or participating in
professional societies.

Must be able to adhere to all corporate policies/standards,
procedures, company goals and priorities, company core values and
practices.

  
Education and Licensing:
Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years of relevant
and progressively responsible hands on work serving as a LM on a
multi-engine aircraft.

FAA Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Senior Riggers Certification
(in support of airdrop testing) required. IATA certification for
transportation of dangerous goods preferred.

Must have a valid US driver’s License.

Must successfully complete a lengthy security screening process and
possess and maintain eligibility for the appropriate U.S. Government
security approval.

Must pass pre-employment, post-accident/incident, random, and “with
probable cause” drug screening.

Must speak English


Experience:
Must be computer literate and possess at least an intermediate
understanding of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word,
PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Must be current with all relevant FAA and ICAO regulations. 

Preferred officers have extensive experience with C-130 operations, the
full spectrum or airland to airdrop missions.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must be able to develop cargo load plans with consideration of weights,
limits of floor/structure, emergency jettison, CG, etc.

Must be able to perform routine and non-routine aircraft servicing duties (e.g., fueling and aircraft configuration changes).

Must be able to read, digest and thoroughly understand aircraft
documentation, aircraft systems, technical manuals/publications, and
other associated aircraft data (e.g., evacuation planning). 

Must be able to manually and/or with electronic aids compute CG and
understand simple aerodynamics equations among others.

Must be able to navigate by means of map or electronic navigation
devices to company standards.

Must have an understanding of aircraft capacity and limitations,
including but not limited to floor loading, shoring and restraint
requirements, and preparing load plans. 

Must understand oxygen system(s), lightening, ICS, APU, cargo winch,
rail system, and other key systems/equipment to cabin operation on the
ground or in the air. 

Must be able to pull 170 lb. load 50 feet over flat terrain within 1.0
minute; move over flat terrain 1.0 mile with backpack/go-bag weighing
35 lbs. within 30 minutes; routinely lift 75 pounds; and climb, kneel,
crawl, and stoop frequently in confined spaces.      

Must be able to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs, performing other duties outside the job description, as needed to meet
the company mission.

Must have an exceptional tolerance to stress and able to function
effectively in demanding, fast-paced and constantly changing work
environment.

Must be able to adhere to all corporate policies/standards, procedures,
company goals and priorities, company core values and practices.

Must be familiar with aircraft, airmen, airspace and operating FARS;
highly skilled and familiar with a range of aviation best practices,
concepts and procedures.

Must be able to occasionally travel domestically for individual and
department level job related/professional development training and
company meetings.

Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality regarding work
performed, as well as protect company proprietary information. 

Must be able to work and participate in a team environment, as well as
independently.


Working Conditions/Special Requirements:
Must be able to travel internationally for extended periods of time,
sometimes under austere and sub-standard living conditions.  

While traveling, work will involve extended and irregular hours in a
variety of environmental conditions including hot and cold temperatures(<32 degrees F and >90 degrees F), high elevations, dusty conditions, and stressful situations.   

Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory
requirements including, OSHA, EPA, FAA, State and Federal regulations.

Ensure company security, safety, and policy and procedure compliance.

Maintain all company travel and training requirements.
